Home to 5000
creative professionals

Creative People Bedford is an independent community built for creative people, by creative people.

Bedford is home to over 5,000 creative professionals, working across everything from arts & crafts, design, fashion, film, music, PR, tech and more. Independent creative practice is deeply rewarding, but it can also be isolating, whether you're freelancing solo, navigating client demands at an agency, or the only creative person in a corporate team.

We believe creativity works better in company.

We bring creative people together through a regular rhythm of breakfasts, nights and socials, creating space to share ideas, find collaborators, and feel part of something bigger than yourself.

We're a social enterprise. Any surplus we make goes straight back into keeping events accessible and creating opportunities for learning and development.

For the actors,
the dreamers and doers - the creative people of Bedford

Whether you're riding the rollercoaster of freelancer life, juggling the demands of clients in an agency, or the only creative person in a corporate organisation, Creative People Bedford is for you.

We welcome creative professionals from right across the creative industries: design, architecture, fashion, film, music, craft, writing, and everything in between. If you make your living, or hope to, through creative work in and around Bedford, there's a place for you here.

What we do

We run a regular programme of events ranging from relaxed networking, open-access socials, to curated showcases, panels and in-conversations about the creative industries hot topics. We'll be introducing masterclasses and campaigns soon so watch this space!

Who we are

When Carly Cook left her 'dream' job in 2025 following a series of health issues, her confidence was on the floor and she realised just how lonely she had been as the only creative in the business. Deciding to rebuild as a freelancer, she knew she had to find company. What started as an experiment, to see if there were other local creatives craving connection with like-minded people, quickly became a vision to create a home for Bedford's creative professionals.

Having previously produced Creative UK's events programme - including the UK's largest free festival for the creative industries - Carly knew the magic of being in a room filled with creatives from every creative discipline, industry, age and stage.

Ella came to the first 'experiment' - Creatives breakfast - and knew this is what she'd been looking for, a space to connect with other creatives, find support and inspiration from peers building independent creative businesses. Ella is now part of the team bringing Creative People Bedford to life.

There's definitely a need for creative community.. I'm grateful for the friendship, connections, and confidence the meetings I've attended have given me.
